April 2024 Update

April 16, 2024

In our last update, we were still in conversations with two other families about teaming up together. Those conversations have continued to go well, and we have decided on pursuing work in the Highlands region. Please pray with us for clear direction to where God wants us, an open invitation from the people, and for unified thinking within our team. One of the families in our team moved up to the base here in January, so we’ve been enjoying spending time together. The other family is still in America after having a new daughter. They’re hoping to be back in May or June. Once we’re all here, we’ll have meetings with leadership to officially get the green light to begin more concrete steps of working toward moving into a people group. We can’t wait to introduce you to our teammates!

Since our last update, we took a break in the capital of Port Moresby and really enjoyed getting away and spending time as a family. We went to the beach, stayed in a nice hotel with a pool, went to a nature park, and ate lots of yummy food.

Earlier this month, Nate and one of the other men from our team were able to be part of a nine-day bush build trip. Another team is currently in the process of allocating to an unreached people group in the Finisterre mountain range. Nate was able to help with a lot of the interior work that still needed to be done on one of the houses. In addition to being an extra set of hands, he was able to get some good hands-on experience with what it will look like when we build our houses.

Our team is looking into a neighboring people group in this same mountain range. While working on the house building, Nate met a man from this neighboring people group who was there. He recorded a few conversations with him in Pidgin and we were able to get more insight into this people group. Thank God for putting Danny right there!

Speaking of building our houses, we could potentially be looking at starting at the end of this year or early 2025! Some of you have expressed interest in the past in coming to PNG to help with the house building when the time comes. If this is something you still want to consider, you can reach out now and let us know!
